sponsored by the Department Applied Psycho-Social Studies, University of
East London; the quarterly journal, _Free Associations: Psychoanalysis,
Groups, Politics, Culture_; and the Human Nature Trust, a charity which
supports psychoanalytic publishing, teaching and conferences.
The forum is designed to reflect the concerns of the annual conference and
to give them an ongoing presence. Papers given at annual conferences or
submitted to the forum will in due course be available at a WWW site for

What a piece of work is a man!
how noble in reason!
how infinite in faculty!
in form and moving how express and admirable!
in action how like an angel!
in apprehension how like a god!
the beauty of the world!
the paragon of animals!
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?
