NAPCN 96
NAPCN 96 will be held in the Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, Canada (in the
same place as NAPCN 86). This is set amidst the splendor of the Canadian
Rockies, and is an internationally known professional training centre for
the arts,
management studies, for environmental studies as well as a centre for
conferences.
The Banff Centre offers complete conference, seminar and meeting
services: from grand buffets to barbecues, a wide range of audio visual
equipment, hotel-style accommodation, a varied choice of meeting and
lounge space, sports facilities including a 25-metre swimming pool, a
large gymnasium, and indoor running track and squash and racquet ball
courts, an exercise and fitness room, a whirlpool and saunas. The
facilities are modern and specially designed to blend into the natural
setting.
Banff, the oldest national park in Canada, consists of 2500 square miles
of snow-capped mountains, towering trees, crystal clear lakes and
streams, glaciers and wildlife in the natural habitat. It is located 75
miles west of Calgary, with frequent bus access from Calgary airport.
Banff townsite is a modern, thriving community of about 4000 residents,
but swells to much more during the peak tourist seasons. Its stores
range from furs and T-shirts to fine china and candy. There are also
restaurants, museums, libraries. art galleries and churches.
Almost every kind of outdoor activity is available within easy reach. In
the winter months this includes world class downhill skiing facilities,
cross-country skiing, heli-skiing, curling, skating, snowmobiling and
winter hay-rides. It was the site of many outdoor events at the 1988
Calgary Winter Olympics.
The warm summer months offer hiking and sight-seeing on easily
accessible trails into the heart of the beauty and grandeur of Banff
National Park. Tennis, fishing, horseback riding, mountain climbing and
canoeing, and golf on world class courses are some of the many things to
do. Camera buffs can ride gondolas, helicopters, boats or glacier-
climbing snowcoaches into the remoter areas of the park. Glacier-fed
Lake Louise, one of the most beautiful spots on earth, is about 30
minutes drive away.
Open all year round, the famous hot springs pool is a popular spot
especially after a busy day. With all this scenery and all these
opportunities, a visit to The Banff Centre then becomes not just another
meeting but a complete and unforgettable learning and living experience.

for a single room, and CDN$ 100/night sharing (+ 5% room tax
