This call for papers is an invitation to contribute to a special edition of
Early Child Development and Care, to explore the influences of current
constructivist theories on the education and care of 'early years' (pre-school) children.~
$ Of particular interest are accounts and reports of work in
the field which illustrate a clear constructivist pedigree with good
empirical support and which might address:
(i) how models of constructivism can illuminate ideas of the continuity and
progression of learning;
(ii) how the intellectual and emotional well-being of the child can be
interpreted through perspectives of 'edu-care';
(iii) play and curiosity as components of learning;
(iv) relationships between learning and the physical and social environments
of many early years settings.
