Dave
As you work in Sheffield would you find it useful to join our Northern
Research group meeting quarterly on Saturdays in York...a number of
people would be able to help you decide on a methodology for the work
you describe.
Unfortunately you will probably miss the meeting tomorrow (14th June
from
ll-3 at 58 Aldwark, York)however just in case you read this the
telephone number is 01904 630517 and you would be most welcome to join
us.. Best wishes
Helen Jones.

Dear colleagues,
I am currently undertaking a six month research posting as part of a
Msc in Occupational Psychology (Institute of work Psychology,
Sheffield. Since the beginning of March I've been working along side a
team from the Institute whose primary focus has been examining the
effects of work re-organisation (particularly team working) on
employees' attitudes. well-being and performance. Research is being
conducted within a modern manufacturing organisation.
I am hoping to investigate lay theories of team working as experienced
by operators on the shop floor, as well as related issues such as
strategic/role orientation and empathy.
My biggest problem at this stage is that I am talking to employees as
they work. Unfortunately I can not think of a satisfactory PCP
procedure to employ. I am, therefore, keen to hear from anyone who
has carried out, or knows of research carried out under similar
circumstances.
On a more general note, I would also be grateful if anyone could point
in the direction of PCP reserach that has been carried out within a
modern manufacturing environment.
Many Thanks
Dave Webb
