Graham (and the rest of the list as a salutory tale! -- sorry
Graham to expose you like this, I'm sure you didn't mean to do
this but it's something that's so easily done I want everyone to know
the basic advice!),
Can I clarify? Did you copy to the list a "host not found" message
that you got when you attempted to post to the list?
If you did, _PLEASE_ never do that again. If you have problems with
a "host not found" there is something wrong with the DNS, the Domain
Naming System that maps the internet somewhere between your site and
the mailbase.ac.uk site. These things usually correct themselves
within a few hours, a day at the most in my experience. Sending to
the list ensures that eventually all 300+ people on the list get a
message that looks completely incomprehensible to most of them. We
then get a slew of them following your example and posting requests
to leave to the list as a whole ... and so on!
If you have requests for addresses of people on the list, come to
Malcolm and myself by Emailing pcp-request@mailbase.ac.uk or, if that
host is unreachable, try me at this address (C.Evans@sghms.ac.uk)
and/or Malcolm at M.C.Cross@city.ac.uk.
Jane is on extended leave and not on the list at the moment, the
address I have for Fionn is:
acsfs@garthdee1.rgu.ac.uk
I've removed the three people who have asked to leave the list by
posting to the list itself but please people ... send messages like
that to pcp-request@mailbase.ac.uk, _NOT_ to the list!
Best wishes all!
Chris (rather harrassed by other things,... list co-administrator!)
