A few years ago Heidi Hutton did a dissertation with me on a personal
construct theory analysis of people with anorexia, recovered anorexia,
bulimarexia, etc., in relation to personal constructs. One of the
interesting findings was that those who recovered medically (were encouraged
to regain their weight) had more fragmented conceptual structure than those
who were actively anorexic. (Plus other findings, e.g., re mother
identification.)
This was not a treatment study, but its findings may be interesting and
relevant to treatment.
The dissertation was done at the University of Rochester (New York) and
would probably be available through Dissertation Abstracts.
