the bandwagon grid the central figure preempts elaboration. It is judged most
like all the others. The other figures fall progressively towards the
periphery as mere subsets of the leader. Even the leader loses the complexity
that is the birth right of human beings. He is reduced to semi-divinity and
archetypal simplicity. This is a hell of a way to (have to) advance a public
or a private science.
