In response to Tim & Jon's eloquent summary of a constructivist ethics, I
was reminded of a remark a student of mine, Barry Fortner, made in class
two weeks ago. Struggling to accommodate a Kellian emphasis on sociality
with his own Christian belief in "truths" worth fighting for, Barry
remarked that "Constructivists make good friends, but terrible soldiers."
I told him I couldn't agree more! --Bob N.
