PRNs started in physical health research and take many forms but the shared feature is they bring together practitioners and researchers. We think that Audin, K., Mellor-Clark, J., Barkham, M., Margison, F., McGrath, G., Lewis, S., Cann, L., Duffy, J., & Parry, G. (2001). Practice research networks for effective psychological therapies. Journal of Mental Health, 10(3), 241–251. https://doi.org/10.1080/09638230125294 was the first paper about PRNs in psychological therapies and the then Northern SPR (Society for Psychotherapy Research) group was a PRN which hugely facilitated the development of the CORE system.
