An interesting extension of the double blind methodology. In double blind trials the participants and the clinicians should not know what intervention the participant is offered. In triple blind the results are analysed maintaining the situation in which no-one involved in analysing the data or writing the paper knows which intervention was which until the report is submitted for publication.

Great idea and the logical extension of the double blind randomised clinical trial method which should really be followed if any intervention can be delivered blind. This is just about never the case in psychosocial intervention studies so I have never seen a truly triple blind study in our field. I’m not convinced I’ve ever seen a study that was truly double blind in our field either as concealing what intervention is what from everyone involved is almost always impossible.
