In response to Geoff Pearce's inquiry, SI and PCP have a great deal in
common philosophically. In the field of communication studies, the
theory we casually refer to as constructivism is actually a hybrid of SI,
PCP and two or three other theories. For a discussion of the
compatibility of SI and PCP and how they might be merged, see:

approach to communication. In F.E.X. Dance (Ed.), Human communication
theory: Comparative essays (pp. 147-191). New York: Harper & Row.
